I did not read any Off the Bus coverage, but I did read stories inspired by it, which leads me to think that what the HuffPo's network was doing was creating a massive, open tip line for mainstream media to cherry pick from. This is a very valuable resource, I'm seeing bits and pieces of that happening with the Windy Citizen, but it's also important to remember that the whole bittergate event sprung out of tiny betrayal of confidence. Had the OTB writer been honest about her intentions to write about what she saw there for a national publication, blog or not, I doubt she would have been admitted. So she got her story, but it sounds like she did so by being disingenuous about her intentions. This bugs me a good deal.
